We’re a global organization with roots in South Africa, founded by university students who wanted to address inequality in access to education. With initial financial backing from Meta and Google, we grew into one of the most socially impactful tech scaleups in our region.
Today, we’re the largest crowdfunded edtech company in history, serving learners in over 40 countries and powered by a team of more than 200.

Laying the foundation
Riaz Moola & Sobane Motlomelo met while studying Computer Science and formed a student community dedicated to the belief that education should be more accessible.We began as a student-led project founded by Riaz Moola, built on the belief that tech education should be more accessible, affordable, and practical.

Backed and building
With backing from Google and Cambridge University, we expanded globally and published our first Graduate Outcomes Report.

Scaling impact
Demand for our online courses surged during the pandemic, and we completed the largest equity crowdfunding raise in history. We opened offices in London, Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban.

Global growth
We partnered with our first universities, including the world’s number two ranked Imperial College London, to launch our first university-certified bootcamps. We also introduced a new range of short upskilling courses, expanding beyond tech education.
